Linen Stitch Scarf Pattern
Cast on 33 sts (or another odd #) on a size 10 needle for worsted weight yarn
Stitch Pattern:
Row 1: (RS of work) K1, *with yarn if front slip 1 stitch as if to purl, bring yarn to back and K1 *; repeat to end of row.
Row 2: (WS of work) K1, P1, *with yarn in back, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, bring yarn forward and purl 1*; repeat to end of row---last stitch K1.
The linen stitch looks great on both sides, but there is a difference in how each side will look. Perfect for a scarf!

Row 3: Repeat Row 1
Row 4: K2, *sl 1 wyf, k1; repeat from *, end k2 instead of k1.
Repeat Rows 1-4 for pattern.
Note: the strand held to the right side creates a bar that gives some flat texture, more subtle than knitted seed stitch, which this pattern resembles.

This scarf is knit from one skein of Elegant Ewe on a size 9 needle and measures at least 6' long.
Cast on 25 sts (on any uneven # for your project)
Knit the first 3 rows for a nice edge.
Pattern rows: Row 1: K1, *S1, K1, repeat from * to end of row.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: K2, *S1, K1, repeat from * to end of row.
Row 4: Purl
Repeat these 4 rows ending with Row 1 until you have just enough yarn for the three garter rows. Bind off sew seam up the middle and block.
